Life’s Decisions

In life you will have many decisions. Through the different decisions, you will need to make a choice. Life is about being approached with decisions and you make choices. The greater part is that you learn to live with the choices you make throughout your life. Even if you don’t make a choice, that is a choice. If you decide not to make a choice, you have to ask yourself if you can live with the consequences of not making a choice. For instance, I was offered two jobs at the same time. One job was located in Maryland and the other job was located in Florida. For the past 10 years, I always had a desire to move to Florida. So, I thought when the opportunity presented itself, I would be ready to make a quick choice. Well, when it presented itself, I wasn’t ready. I had a deadline of when to make a decision to the hiring manager but tried to delay as much as possible. I finally had to make a decision and I chose Maryland over Florida. Reason being, I thought being in a familiar state (lived in Maryland in the past) closer to family would make the transition better. However, I discovered that making that decision wasn’t the right decision for me. I was making that decision from everyone else’s opinion along with being in a safety net (close to familiar) and I wasn’t following what was true to me and was in my heart. Giving up the opportunity to move to Florida lead to many months of regretting my decision. Plus, the job in Maryland didn’t meet my standards and that was because my mind was always on Florida. Nevertheless, I had to live with my decision and accepted the consequences of my decisions. What I could celebrate is that I made a decision. If if my decision did not pan out to what I thought, I was courageous enough to move forward and choose one of life’s decisions. If I had waited and not take any of the offers, then I would have been sitting in the same position always wondering “what if”. There is an old saying that the grass is not greener on the other side. My response is that you will never know if the grass is greener on the other side if you don't choose to make life decisions.
